What is this all about ?

AI, just like anything that is artificial, has a bad reputation, for the right reasons.
At the end of the day, if you just use AI to do your work for you, you will be soon replaced by someone who can do this better than you and cheaper. Yet if we take the time to move away from generative AI, there is a deeper side to it, one that frees our work.
Instead of thinking about AI as a replacement for human effort and creativity, think about it as a partner, some sort of virtual exoskeleton that gives you special powers and abilities to further your reasoning, help you think deeper about the problems you have at hand, by taking care of the repetitive and boring everyday tasks that hijack your creativity.

I set up this web page to share with you the prompts that I used to do just that, unleash my creativity and free some of time to focus on the important. Some may work for you, others won't, but I hope that they will inspire you to try and see what Ai+ can do for you.

20-01-2025 act as a french teacher. write a dictation of 80 words for my a-level students on the topic of charitable work. I would like you to include as many homophones (eg. s'est, sait, c'est ...) as possible as they are confused by these C’est incroyable comme l’aide des bénévoles s’est accrue cette année. Ils savent que c’est essentiel d’aider ceux qui n’ont rien. On sait que leur action peut faire la différence, même si ça semble difficile. Chaque don compte : qu’il s’agisse d’argent, d’un vêtement ou d’un repas. Là où les associations agissent, on voit un changement. Leurs efforts, leur générosité et leur patience transforment des vies. Mais, est-ce suffisant pour résoudre tous les problèmes ?

I want you to create an HTML 5 game in a responsive design that will ask the player to move words in two different boxes called "Ethical" and "Not Ethical" with their mouse It took me 3 days to get this game working as it should. For the first time, I used the CANVAS feature of ChatGPT which worked well to start with, but soon became overwhelmed when dealing with more than 300 lines of code. Eventually, I had to ask ChatGPT to output the code in the chat window instead, working with portions at the time in order to prevent it crashing, but we got there in the end.

03-10-2024 In this exercise, you will assume that you know nothing about the perfect tense in French. I will be using one-shot examples to teach you. You are allowed to form your own rules from what I tell you, but not use prior knowledge. Remember that you can't do that at the moment because you don't have enough information to infer the rules yet. The one-shot prompt will look like present: [verb in the present] past: [verb in the past] It takes quite of lot of testing to make sure that ChatGPT does not remember anything, but once it got started, it was pretty quick at working out the rules from the one-shot examples given. The students found this activity demanding and challenging.
30-09-2024 Act as a French teacher. I will give you some rules on masculine and feminine. [PDF uploaded] we are going to use those rules to practice with my class. I want you to give me a list of 100 words that follow this rule. Present them in a pdf with 2 columns, one for masculine and one for feminine. Do not use exceptions Whereas the worksheet was create beautifully, the AI included some exceptions to the rules that I fed it with, which ended up in an interesting conversation about language exceptions.
20-09-2024 today we are working on a PHP project. You are going to write 4 files for me. We will do them one at a time, but I will give you the outlook now. The first file will be a PHP uploader that will send documents to a PHP processor, the second file. The PHP processor will create a third file on the server for each document that I upload, and the fourth file will aggregate all the created documents from the PHP processor and display them in a table (using PHP). Does this make sense to you ? This is the initial prompt that I wrote to create this website that you are browsing now. ChatGPT is good with code, but it can soon become overwhelmed and start to hallucinate, even though I was careful to keep it up to date with everything.

I would like to create a html5 webpage with a game for my students. The game will show them a question in the form "Je" + aller and the student will be given 4 buttons with choices, only one will be correct. Once the students have answered a question, another one will be shown and the game will finish after 60 seconds. A timer will be displayed. The four verbs to test in the present tense are ALLER FAIRE ETRE and AVOIR and the persons will be " Je tu il elle on nous vous ils elles" The code required quite a lot of tweaking with ChatGPT because students immediately try to find a way to cheat the game by spamming keys. Eventually, I was able to build a robust game and enable the students to take part in a class competition.
16-09-2024 Act as a secondary French teacher. I need you to taylor-made today's activities to the students in my French class: John, male, high ability; Raj, male, high-ability; Matt, male, medium-ability; Mohamed, male, low ability; Cindy, female, high ability; Petra, female, medium-ability; Noor, female, medium-low ability, Sylvia, female, low ability. I want you to devise exciting activities and groupings for 7 exercises that I will describe to you. Exercise 1, reading in French and deciding which 5/10 provided sentences are true; exercise 2, reading in French and answering questions in English; exercise 3, reading in French and deciding if the sentences are true, false or not mentionned; exercise 4, translating a short passage in French into English; exercise 5, listening in French and deciding if the people have a positive, negative or positive + negative opinion; exercise 6, listening in French and deciding which people or pair of people did what; exercise 7, listening in French and deciding which 5/10 sentences in French are true. The lesson lasts 45 minutes Groups were different based on each activity, and included complementary skills such as discussing strategies for completion, recognising cognates, etc. Reluctant at first, the students eventually appreciated being paired with classmates they normally never work with.
12-09-2024 Act as a French teacher. Based on the document that I uploaded, prepare a 20mn activity on designing school rules according to imaginative scenarios that you will devise for the students working in 3 groups of 4 ChatGPT created a fun and attractive activity where the students, working in a group, had to devise school rules for an imaginary wizard school, one for superheroes and one on the moon.
